Basics

We all know that the tigers are endagered. But did you know that it's estimated that there's fewer than 4,000 tigers left in the wild, and around 1,660 in captivity?

The Tiger (Panthera Tigris)

No cat is bigger, with males topping 600 pounds . Three tiger subsecies have gone extinct since the 1930's. The Malayan (below) , along with four or five other subspecies, hang on in Asia.

There are a few problems that are happening un Russia due to tigers and their environnement being deprived. Here's a graph to illustrate the problem more clearly:

Creation!

I'm not sure if anyone's really gonna read this, but it's worth a shot!

This blog is dedicated to all of those who are interested in the wonderful world of the tiger. We'll have information, such as physical descriptions on this mighty feline, conservation updates, like the population of tigers in different regions, many images, fun contests like art and story writing.

So, let's get started! As a first-time blogger, I don't really know much about this site, let alone posting, but I'm pretty confident. I'll be on 4-7 times a week, depending on the day, or work.
We'll also have a daily "Did you know" section where I'll post some information about tigers. Who knows, maybe when (or if) the blog gets a little more popular, you guys could even send me some "Did you know" questions for me to post.

I'll also be posting a monthly Quiz about tigers and you could post your comments. (Although I'm not sure about prizes yet)

Thanks all, and I really hope you enjoy my blog!
